Louise Loudean Moore, an amazing woman, age 90, slipped peacefully from this world on December 3, surrounded by her family.
On September 6, 1926, she was born to Joseph and Anna Lillian Daniel. She grew up during the Great Depression and was the first in her family to graduate from high school; a near impossible feat at that time. She was a lifelong resident of Webb City, where many happy times occurred. She graduated from WCHS in 1944. She raised her family there. And, her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren all spent much time with her in her Webb City home. As a mother, sister, aunt and grandma, she built a beautiful legacy.
An avid reader her whole life, she wanted others to know the value of reading and that "when you open up a book, your mind can take you anywhere." She was a homemaker, mother, and friend, who later in life worked for Oak Hill Hospital where she retired after many years of service in the housekeeping department. She gave great advice, mended our broken hearts, fed us amazing meals, scooped us up when we needed a hug, and referred to us as 'honey' when we needed it the most, but more importantly, she made us laugh – over and over again. She taught us the joys of life and how to laugh through pain. As a two time cancer survivor, she endured tremendous pain in her lifetime, but she fought through it with the tenacity of a giant, even as cancer waged war on her for a third time in recent months. Her tiny frame, so frail and weak, but her mind too stubborn to give up or give in - hard-headed as some might say but more like strong willed; a characteristic she proudly portrayed and passed on to the next generation. One we now wear like a badge of honor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Irene Sumpter and Ruth Evans; and three half-brothers, Earl Burk, Cecil Burk, and Burl Burk. She leaves behind a large family that loves her dearly and will miss her always, including: her loyal, pet dog companion of 16 years, Rambo, whom she spent many hours chasing after around her neighborhood in Webb City; two daughters, Cherry Troxel and husband Richard of North Carolina, Sandra Betebenner and husband Mitch of Carl Junction; one son, Robert Moore and wife Jenny of Alba; five grandchildren, John Day and wife Jeanetta, Eric Day and special friend Amanda Potts, Nicole Wood, Travis Moore and wife Nicole, and Kim Eckerman and husband Josh; and 11 great grandchildren, Quentin, Sophia and Keira Day, Lyla and Carsyn Wood, Madison Moore and her two identical twin sisters due in March, and Otto, Abbot and Emmet Eckerman; and many nieces and nephews whom she cared for deeply. Her family would like to thank all of the wonderful caregivers who helped to make her comfortable in her final days at St. Luke's Nursing Center in Carthage.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 5 at 2:00 pm at the Carterville Cemetery. Pastor Galen King, a close, family friend, will officiate. Pallbearers will be John Day, Eric Day, Travis Moore, Josh Eckerman, Quentin Day and Nathan Oberley.
Arrangements are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City.
