Carl J. Jones, beloved husband, father and grandfather, 84 of Jasper, Missouri passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Joplin Mercy Hospital.
He was born April 22, 1933 in Nevada, Missouri to Otis Carl and Leona (Quall) Jones. Carl was co-owner and operator of Judy’s CafĂ© and Truck Stop in Jasper. Throughout his life he enjoyed truck driving and farming. Carl was most passionate about music. He played numerous instruments and enjoyed singing. He excelled at the fiddle and was the founder of Carl Jones and the Kendricktown Playboys band. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, Masonic Lodge, Shriner’s, Elks Lodge, and the V.F.W. He was an Army veteran during the Korean War.
Carl was united in marriage to Bessie Taffner on July 25, 1970, she survives. Other survivors include his children, Carolyn Dye of Independence, MO., Debbie Nelson of Belton, MO., Ronnie Jones of Lexington, MO., Carl Joe Jones of Willing, MO., Carla Kay Schieber of Lexington, MO., Bob Jones of Crescent City, California, Kay Carter of Jasper, MO., Dale Carter of Lamar, MO., Doug Carter of Diamond, MO., Jenica Carter Rush of Frisco, Texas, and Jessica Carter of Virginia Beach, Virginia. One brother, Bob Jones of Vancouver, Washington. Twenty three grandchildren and twenty two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 10:00 A.M.. at Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper, MO.. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Weng Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Waters Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Shriner’s Hospital.
