Twyla M. McColm, 90, of Pittsburg, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017 at her home.
She was born August 28, 1927, the daughter of Clint and Lizzy May (Upton) Hickman. She attended Riverton grade school and graduated from McCune High School.
On July 28, 1946, she was united in marriage to Earl R. McColm at rural McCune, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 28, 2003. Mrs. McColm helped her husband on the farm and was a farmer’s wife. She also was a caregiver, taking care of those in need. Membership was held in the Osage Church of the Brethren, where she was very active in the church. She was also a past member of the McCune Ladies of Lions.
Survivors include a son, Clint Earl “Mackie” McColm and his wife, Zelda of rural McCune, Kansas; two daughters, Sheila A. Markley and her husband, Darrel of Pittsburg and Shelley M. Parks and her husband, Thomas of Joplin, Missouri; two brothers, Herbert Hickman of Pittsburg and John Burnett of California; Seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and seven brothers and sisters.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday (Dec. 1) at the Brenner Mortuary with Pastor Robert Simonsick officiating. Burial will follow in the Osage Church of the Brethren. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Brenner Mortuary, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday. The family suggests memorials be given to the Osage Church of the Brethren. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg.
