Maria Ortiz, 49, Carthage, MO, passed away Monday morning, November 20, 2017 at Cox Hospital South, Springfield, MO. Maria De Los Angeles Ortiz Cortes was born August 20, 1968 in Extlilco El Grande, Mexico to Eulalio Rosas Ortiz and Reyna Cortes Gadea. She worked as a retail clerk for Supermercado Guerrero. Maria was a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include her mother, Reyna Cortes Gadea; two sons, Ari Alexis Ortiz, Carthage, and Cupertino “Coop” Ortiz (wife Gretchen), Carthage; one brother, Jose Antonio Ortiz Cortes, Extlilco El Grande, Mexico; three sisters, Alicia Ortiz Cortes, Martha Ortiz Cortes, and Eriberta Ortiz Cortes, Extlilco El Grande, Mexico; and three grandchildren, Callen Ortiz, Kyler Ortiz, and Camila Ortiz, Carthage, MO.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Maria was a loving mother, daughter, grandma, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all. She absolutely adored her grandchildren and they loved their "abuela."
Visitation will be held 6-7 pm, Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Services will be held at a later date in Extlilco El Grande Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Knell Mortuary.
