Jerry E. Henry, age 81, of Duenweg, Mo., passed away on Wednesday November 8, 2017 at Mercy Hospital, following an illness.
Jerry was born on November 29, 1935 in Monte Ne, Ar., the son of the late William C. and Veda M. (Johns) Henry. He graduated from Duenweg High School, a member of the class of 1953. He married Barbara Cavener on December 24, 1953, together they raised two children. He worked forty years as a machinist for ICI formerly known as Atlas Powder Company.
Jerry was a charter member of Central Christian Center where he served as a Deacon and has been an Elder for the past fifteen years. He taught Sunday School classes and he ministered at the Brady Building and Messenger Towers. He was a lifetime member of the Joplin Rifle & Pistol Club. He was a master carpenter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf. He was very devoted to his family.
Jerry is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Barbara Henry, Duenweg, Mo.; one daughter, Kathi Cassady and husband Tom, Joplin, Mo.; one son, Darrin Henry and wife Kelly, Carl Junction, Mo.; five grandchildren, Nathan Cassady, Gabriel Cassady, Zane Cassady, Krystal Henry, and Tiffany Henry; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Central Christian Center. Pastor Hank Deslatte, Paul Bayless, and Kenny Parker will officiate. Burial will be in Stone Cemetery, near Diamond, Mo.
The family visitation will be 3-4 p.m. Sunday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be given to Central Christian Center or the National Kidney Foundation in care of the mortuary.
