(From Parker Mortuary)William Eugene ‘Bill’ Carlstrom, age 85, Galena, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Freeman West Hospital.
Bill was born June 28, 1936 in Chester, Pennsylvania to the late Nels Boone Carlstrom and Betty Keenan Carlstrom.
Bill worked in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic for 10 years before continuing as an airplane mechanic while serving in the Air Force Reserves for another 11 years. He owned a company that delivered oil for Standard Oil in Parkville, Missouri for several years before moving to Baxter Springs, Kansas where he owned and operated the Western Auto Store.
Bill was a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served for 10 years and then served with the Reserves for 11 years for a grand total of 21 years in the United States Air Force.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Susan Gailey, RPh and husband, Raymond Keith Gailey, M.D.; one brother, Robert ‘Bobby’ Carlstrom and wife, Mae, of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial of his ashes with full military honors will take place in Baxter Springs Cemetery on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Britt officiating.
