Dollie Humes

(From Parker Mortuary)

Dollie Ann Humes, age 85, Joplin, passed away on March 21, 2022.

Our beloved Dollie Humes will be missed terribly. She changed her address to Heaven yesterday. It hurts to know she’s not with us any longer but it’s comforting to know she’s in the arms of her Savior and together with her beloved Richard and our other loved ones who went before her. She battled Parkinson’s for many years and she was a fierce warrior.

Dollie was born September 5, 1936 in Independence, KS into a large family with parents Archie and Myrtle (Gordon) Doss. As the youngest daughter growing up in Independence, KS, she was nicknamed princess. She married Richard Humes on August 18, 1957 in Independence, KS, he was her rock for 50 years until he passed March 13, 2008. She enjoyed acquiring anything by the thrill of the hunt, and negation. Although she was excellent with numbers, her favorite jobs were in sales. She was told she could sell ice to an Eskimo.

Dollie is survived by her three children, Brian Humes (Karen), of Steamboat Springs, CO, Wendi Foster (Juston), of Kansas City, MO, and Lori Young (Dan), of Joplin, MO; six grandchildren, Haylee Griffin (Ashton), Eric Humes, Madalyn Torrico (Adrian), Jake Young, Kaitlyn Crathorne, Cody Crathorne; four great-grandchildren; two siblings, Jeanie Dougan, of Pretty Prairie, KS and Bob Doss (Diane), of CA; one brother-in-law, Leon Shook, of Payson, AZ; and one sister-in-law, Linda Doss, of Phoenix, AZ.

Cremation arrangements are under the special care of Parker Mortuary.
