John Sayre

(From Westfield Chapel)

John Sayre, born on March 25, 1952, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. He was 73 years old.

John proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he spent more than 50 years as a welder, known for his strong work ethic, quiet determination, and craftsmanship.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Becky Sayre, of the home.

John was a man of few words, but the words he spoke were always meaningful—rooted in love, wisdom, and compassion. He found his greatest peace in the outdoors, where he loved to hunt, fish, and simply sit in quiet reflection. Watching the world come alive in the stillness of nature brought him closer to God.

He is survived by his children:

• Shannon Holiday and wife Tracy of Springdale

• Terri DeLaRosa and husband Sergio of Fayetteville

• Robert Kidder and wife Lilli of Fayetteville

• Shawna Hobson and husband Gene of Diamond, Missouri

Also surviving are his brothers:

• Terry Sayre and wife June

• John Tieman of California

John was the proud grandfather and great-grandfather to 32 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Betty Sayre, and his brother, Alfred Sayre.

John leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, deep love, and unwavering devotion to his family. His presence will be missed, but his memory will live on in every life he touched.

A private memorial will be held with close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to honor John’s memory by spending time outdoors—watching a sunrise, casting a line, or simply sitting in nature as he so often did.

The family would like to thank Willard Warkler Hospice for their loving care.
