(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Jeffrey “Pie” B. Charles, age 66, of Galena, Kansas, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026.
Jeff was born January 21, 1960 to Billy Charles Sr and Janice Fry Charles, in Joplin , MO. He grew up and attended school in Galena, Kansas. He was a very hard worker and was employed by the City of Galena, working for the water department until retirement. In 1978, he was married to Debb Webb. Though they later divorced, to their union three sons were born. As a hobby, Jeff enjoyed putting together model cars, and spending time with his dog, Diesel. Jeff will be remembered for his excellent work ethic and kind heart. He loved everybody, but especially his boys and family; and he would do anything for anyone.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Frank and Clarabelle Fry, and Lue and Edith Charles; step-grandpa: Ralph Fast; and dear friend Jeff Lansaw, whom he loved like a brother.
Surviving Jeff are his mother: Janice; three sons: Jeremy Charles of Carl Junction, MO, Jeff Charles of Carl Junction, MO, and Jason Charles of Galena, KS; three brothers: Russell Charles (wife Annette) of Lebanon, MO, Douglas Charles (wife SuenaSong) of Newton County, MO, and Billy Charles (wife Renee) of Galena, KS; and dear friend Norman Duncan of Scammon, KS.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena, KS. The family plans to host a celebration of life later this summer at Schermerhorn Park in Galena, KS.
