Daniel Brown

(From Midland Cremation Society)

Daniel Eugene Brown, age 75, passed away on January 20, 2026. Born on February 21, 1950, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he was the beloved son of Roy and Mildred Brown. Dan dedicated 26 years of distinguished service to his country and community. He served in the United States Air Force as a civil engineer, eventually retiring with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Following his military career, Dan continued his work in the electrical field as an electrician, lineman, and District Manager for Missouri Public Service/UtiliCorp.

In his retirement, Dan became a skilled woodworker, known for upcycling wood to create beautiful, custom furniture. An avid outdoorsman, he found peace in nature while hunting and fishing. His greatest joy, however, was his family. He cherished teaching his grandchildren the finer points of casting a fishing rod and target shooting, and he was frequently seen giving them rides on his tractor.

Dan is survived by his loving and loyal wife, Effie Brown of Joplin, MO; his three children, Barbie Watts of Hanford, California, Anna Spence of Murphysburg, TN, and Daniel Brown of Joplin, MO; and two stepdaughters, Sandra Krumsick of Joplin, MO, and Bethany Powell of Blue Springs, MO. He is also survived by ten grandchildren whom he adored: Steven Valle, Bryn and Colin Stukowski, Ashtyn and Zoe Spence, Paige, Allie, and Sophie Krumsick, and Brooke and Natalie Powell.

He will be remembered as a man of integrity, hard work, and deep devotion to his family.

A memorial service will be held at Forest Park Church in Joplin, Missouri, on Monday, February 2, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
