Rebecca Henry

(From Parker Mortuary)

Rebecca Lynn (Henry) Kane passed from this earth on January 16, 2026.

Rebecca was born in Camden, Arkansas on March 24, 1957 to William and Shirley (Bryant) Henry. She was educated in Germany, Taiwan and Okinawa, Japan while her father served for decades in the United States Army. She loved sharing stories of her unconventional upbringing. It sparked her love of travel and her lifelong passion for veteran’s causes. She played the clarinet in school. She worked as a receptionist supporting her husband through medical school, as well as, the Catholic archdiocese in Denver, CO. She also worked as a legal assistant in Denver, CO during her husband’s residency.

Later, she was a devoted mother, wife and homemaker. She married Michael Kane in Memphis, TN on November 21, 1980. She followed his career moving from Memphis to Knoxville, TN, Denver, CO, Atlanta, GA, Nashville, TN, Poplar Bluff, MO, and finally moving to Joplin, MO in 2001. Everywhere they moved, Rebecca curated magnificent homes for her family. The home she was proudest of in Brentwood, TN was featured in a local home and garden magazine. She loved throwing extravagant parties for their friends. Because of her passion for fashion, she also enjoyed dressing up for Michael’s work functions and sharing her extensive shoe collection.

Her passions included her love for genealogy animals (especially poodles), books, history, antiques and helping others. She was a proud supporter of the military/law enforcement in every city she resided. She enjoyed going to nursing homes and listening to the life stories of the elderly among her many other volunteer works. She was very proud of her work on our family tree. She spent years working to trace it back several generations farther than it had been. She was happiest surrounded by her family and her two beloved poodles in the beautiful home she created.

Rebecca is preceded in death by her father, William Henry, of Joplin.

Rebecca is survived by her mother, Shirley Henry, of Joplin; husband, Michael Kane M.D., of Joplin; daughter, Alicia Kane, of Kansas City, MO; son, Jonathan Kane, of Kansas City, KS; sister, Kathy Eberhardt and husband, Richard, of Olathe, KS; as well as, multiple nephews and nieces in several states.

While flowers are appreciated, we instead invite you to honor Rebecca’s memory by making a donation to the charity of your choice that reflects a cause she cared about, such as veterans or animals.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel.

Funeral arrangements are under the special care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
