(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Danny Joe Simpson, age 67, passed away at 7:51 pm, Friday, January 9, 2026 at Mercy Hospital Joplin, MO.
Danny was born February 6, 1958 in Kansas City, Missouri. His parents were Raymond and Dorothy (Reser) Simpson. He had lived in Galena most of his life.
He retired as a forklift driver from Kemlee Manufacturing, Galena, in 2023 after working there 17 years. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, visiting casinos, and doing yardwork. He was an avid KC Chiefs football fan and would often be seen wearing team colors.
Danny married Lisa Bond on April 2, 2003 in Miami, OK. She survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Danny Simpson Jr (Dawn), Austin, TX, Shane Simpson, (Opie) Joplin, MO, and Eric West (Nicole) Springfield, MO; one stepson, Sean Murphy, Idaho; one sister, Katherine McLaughlin, Joplin, MO; 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren., He was a very loving uncle to numerous nieces and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one stepson, Jeremy Murphy, her sisters & brothers Carol Rea, Sandy McNight, Patti a Simpson, Jerry Simpson, Bobby Simpson and one grandson.
He was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS for cremation. The family will schedule a celebration of life later in the spring.
