(From Ferry Funeral Home)Joan Doris Engle, 79, Liberal, MO passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, KS. Joan was born June 24, 1942 in Nevada, MO to Lawrence and Dora (James) Rackley. She was united in marriage to Lonnie Engle on April 2, 1961 in Nevada and he preceded her in death in 2010.
Joan was raised in Walker, Nevada, and Sheldon, graduating from Walker High School in 1960. She lived in Hume for a number of years and has resided in Liberal for the past 40 years. Joan was a member of the Christian Church of Liberal. She enjoyed crocheting, and taking care of her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Joan is survived by three children, Lonnie Joe Engle (Joyce), Liberal, Jonie Ray Engle (Tammy), Liberal, and Lona Linn Engle, Jefferson City, MO; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank Schooley, Sr. Nevada; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Lonnie, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Ronnie; two brothers, Charles Brown, and Donald James Brown, Sr. (Jim); two sisters, Patricia Periman, and Mary Dagley.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Ray Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery in Nevada. The family will receive friend from 9:30–11:00 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
