Robert (Bob) W. Heiniger, Sr., 85, of Carterville, Missouri, passed away on January 4, 2018 . Bob was born on April 11, 1932 in Oronogo, Missouri. He was raised in Carterville and was a 1949 graduate of Carterville High School. He married his high school sweetheart Frances Hedgcorth on October 22, 1950.
Bob retired in 1996 after 24 years as a rural mail carrier in Webb City. He served in the Naval Reserves for 36 years, retiring as Chief Petty Officer. In 2008, he retired after 11 years with Covert Electric Supply in Joplin. He was active in the Joplin Moose Lodge for many years. He attended the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Webb City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elias (Bill) & Josie Heiniger; three sisters, Lorene Gillard, Marjorie Cochran, Iris Mae Burke; son, Jeffery; and granddaughter, Emilee.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years; four children, Barbara Eggers and husband Greg of Prescott, WI, Robert, Jr. and wife Judy of Joplin, Michael and wife Anita of Webb City, and Douglas and wife Kimberlee of Joplin; six grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews.
Services will be held at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri on January 6 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation preceding from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Emmanuel Baptist Church Growth Fund, 300 N. Pennsylvania St., Webb City, Mo 64870.
