Josephine Yvonne Blair, age 85, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Landmark Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
She was born February 8, 1932 in Louisville, Kentucky the daughter of Bernard and Ada Hester (Offutt) Cecil. On January 24, 1953 in Bardstown, Kentucky she was united in marriage to Homer Blair, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Pam McDowell and her husband Ray (deceased) of South Greenfield, Missouri, Monica Hoy and her husband David of Jefferson City, Missouri and Teresa Burleson and her husband Randy of Neosho, Missouri; one brother, Bobby Cecil and his wife Carole of New Haven, Kentucky; one sister, Dorothy Kirsch-Ulrich and her husband Bill of Bardstown, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Kyle McDowell and his wife Kendra of Ozark, Missouri, Cody McDowell and his wife Sara of Moberly, Missouri, Brandice Rosander and her husband Jay of Cincinnati, Ohio, Colin Anthony and his wife Melanie of Jefferson City, Missouri, Kenny Burleson and his wife Kristina of Aliso Viejo, California and Clayton Burleson and his wife Natalie of Bentonville, Arkansas and twelve great grandchildren, Vanessa, Brooke and Grayson Rosander, Maddox, Hudson and Landry McDowell, Stella and Nora Anthony, Aleesa and Nick Burleson and Lyla and Owen Burleson.
Preceding her in death were her parents; three sisters, Juanita Kirtley and her husband Hugh, Mary Evelyn Cecil and Barbara Ann Cecil.
Jo grew up in and around her Kentucky roots of Bardstown until she met the love of her life. They had plans of raising a football team and instead raised three daughters. Jo and Homer made their home in various locations including Louisville, Kentucky, Detroit, Michigan, Independence, Kansas, Webb City, Missouri, Harlingen, Texas and retired to a place they love and call home, Table Rock Lake.
Throughout their marriage of 65 years they shared joys, challenges, heartbreaks and successes. They are most proud of their three daughters, six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Jo was an active member in her church and bridge clubs. One of her favorite activities included playing golf, and she loved nothing more than beating the men. She leaves her family with many cherished lessons on life, strength, happiness and memories that they will never forget.
After a short illness, Jo gained her angel wings with her family surrounding her. Homer and her family loved her beyond words.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Shell Knob, Missouri under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Shell Knob. Father David Baunach will conduct the services. Burial will be at Pennsboro Cemetery in South Greenfield, Missouri.
