At a very young age Ruby moved to Michigan where she graduated from high school. In 1970 she returned to Barry County, where she was a long time nurse in the area. Her family farmed in the Cato area. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Cassville. Christmas was her favorite time and especially enjoyed decorating her tree. She also enjoyed watching John Wayne movies, but most of all she loved taking care of people.

Ruby loved children and for about five years ran a Coats For Kids program in Barry County for kids that did not have a coat to keep them warm in the cold winters. She spent many hours purchasing coats with donated money and making sure donated coats were suitable for the children that would receive them. She delivered the coats personally and enjoyed watching the child’s eyes light up when they received the coat and asking “Can I really keep this”.
