Bernadine Herron

Bernadine Herron, 92, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on March 20, 2021 at Spring River Christian Village.

Bernadine was born March 13, 1929 in Joplin, Missouri to the late Charles Alvin Peterson and Verla Faye (Jones) Peterson. Bernadine had lived in the Joplin area all of her life.

Bernadine was a dedicated homemaker and blessed to be able to stay home and raise her four children. She enjoyed playing games, reading, music, and the penny machines at the casino. 








Her children have fond memories of their mother during their childhood as Bernadine often baked their favorite cookies and made the best hot chocolate. She was a long-time member of Park Plaza Christian Church. Bernadine served as a mother and grandmother figure to those outside of her family, always endearing and willing to share her love. She was positive and encouraging and she truly enjoyed interacting with others. Bernadine will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

On May 27, 1949 Bernadine was united in marriage to Jack Herron in Joplin. Together they shared 32 precious years before his passing on April 8, 1982.

In addition to her parents and husband, Bernadine was also preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Wiess and Sharon Burgess; and two brothers, Donald and Delmer Peterson.

Bernadine is survived by her three daughters, Joan Vann and husband, Rick, Vickie Steele and husband, Kenny, and Kerri Stuart and husband, Scott; her son, Craig Herron, and wife, Susan; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Fontaine (Trevor), Jeff Heeney (Carol), Matthew Steele, Chad Steele, Tara Buxton (Chris), Aubrey Housh (Jerron), and Darice Ball; 15 great-grandchildren, James, Amelia, Katie, Jack, Carsen, Maxwell, Darian, Jett, Conner, Charlie, Austin, Jacob, Katie, Chase, and Colby; great great-granddaughter, Adara; her brother, Gerald Peterson, and wife, Jean; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Forest Park Cemetery in Joplin with Pastor Randy Steele officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spring River Christian Village in support of their activity fund.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
