Shirley Kirk

Shirley I. Kirk, 89, formerly of Stella, passed away March 25, 2021 in West Columbia, SC. She was born on May 12, 1931 in Stella, Missouri the daughter of Elmer and Mary Lefler Dabbs. 

Shirley was a lifelong resident of the Stella area until she moved to South Carolina to be with her daughter. She was a member of Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church, Rocky Comfort, Missouri. 

Shirley married Gareth Kirk on May 24, 1950 and he preceded her in death on October 13, 1991. She later married Emery Ellison on October 26, 2005 and he survives. 

 Other survivors include her daughter, Karen Martin and husband, John of West Columbia, South Carolina; son-in-law, Steven Jacobs, a step-daughter, Sharon Ellison, a step-son, Leroy Ellison; four grandchildren, Jeri Neal, April Granger, Aaron (Emily) Martin and Tawnya (Patrick) Langston; ten great grandchildren, Gabriel and Keegan Neal, Ty'Oka Burris, Nick, Eliana and Grant Langston, Emeline, Cameron, Elijah and Josie Martin; four step-grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death in addition to her parents, was her daughter, Sharon Kirk Jacobs on November 12, 2020.

Shirley worked many years for the Rocky Comfort School District and enjoyed it very much. She especially enjoyed being around the children. She sang with the Chapelaires Quartet for several years. Shirley loved her church and enjoyed serving the Lord as pianist until her memory began to fail.
