(From Parker Mortuary)
Danielle “Nikki” Thomas, age 34, was born May 10, 1986, in Joplin. She died Sunday, March 28, after her tired, weak body gave out. She battled illness her whole life, but she lived and loved with the strength God gave a lion. She was a wonderful sister, granddaughter, aunt, niece, friend, cousin, and a genuinely amazing person.
Danielle was preceded in death by her grandpa, John Pottorff, who gave her the lifelong nickname, Pumpkin, and her mother, Peppy Long, who loved her more than the air she breathed.
Danielle worked at Mercy Hospital and loved helping people. It was her dream to become a psychologist and to help those struggling with many issues she was able to overcome herself. If helping one person was all she could ever do, then she was happy.
She loved the Kansas City Chiefs, listening to music, playing Xbox, and making her world sparkle with Diamond Dotz crafts. Even though a lot of her time was spent in and out of hospitals, she still found time for her friends, family, and trying to do all the things she loved. She knew every minute here was precious and had no problem giving her time, money, or anything else that would help make someone’s day better.
Danielle is survived by her dad Danny Long , brother Joseph Long, and her sister Shelby and wife Brittany Long, her grandma Maria Pottorff, her grandma Ann St. Marie, her aunt Ree (Maria) and uncle Jimbo (Jim) Hartje, her uncle Johnny (Unky) and aunt Bobbie Pottorff, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be missed terribly and all who knew her will forever be grateful she was in our lives.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel with family and friends sharing with each other.
