(From Daniel Funeral Home)Jimmy J Jackson, age 61, of Lamar, Missouri passed away March 24, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
Jimmy was born January 13, 1960 in Fairfax, MO to James C. Jackson and Mildred M. (Hawk) Jackson. Because of his father's job, the family lived in several places including Long Beach, California and finally landing in Greenfield, MO where he graduated from Greenfield High School in the class of 1978.
On March 13, 1992 Jimmy married Lonna LaRee Wilson in Las Vegas, Nevada.
At age 18, Jimmy began a 30 year career at O'Sullivan Industries in Lamar, working his way up through the ranks to packing department supervisor. After O'Sullivan closed in 2007, Jimmy worked at Hampshire Pet Products in Joplin, MO as the processing supervisor until his retirement in 2018 due to health reasons. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and had quite a collection of Chiefs memorabilia and football cards. He enjoyed watching his kid's sporting events and helped coach his daughter's traveling softball team. Jimmy loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who adored him. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Lonna Jackson, Lamar, MO, two sons; Dustin Jackson, Humansville, MO, Jeremy (Chantill) VanGilder, Lamar, MO, one daughter; Taylor (Riley) Williams, Joplin, MO, five grandchildren; Lilly, Natalie, RayLee, Rosemary and Parker, three sisters; Jeannie (Randy) Fleeman, Greenfield, MO, Cheryl (Bruce) Kirby, Greenfield, MO, and Nancy (John) Edsell, Neosho, MO along with a massive extended family.
Preceding Jimmy in death were his parents, one brother, Jerry Kirk and one son, Ryan VanGilder.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, March 29, 2021, at Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow in St. James Cemetery, Milford, MO.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, Sunday, March 28, 2021 at the funeral home.
