Dixie Murphy

(From Parker Mortuary)

Dixie Kay Murphy, 80, of Diamond, passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

Dixie was born February 28, 1941 in Carthage to Elvin and Maudie (England) Kyte. She was a 1959 graduate of Joplin High School. Dixie married Larry Murphy on May 22, 1959 and together they had two children.

Dixie worked as a homemaker, raising her family and taking care of the home. She enjoyed crafting, visiting area casinos, and flowers – especially pansies. She was an animal lover through and through. She loved her family and was the most caring grandmother, even through her stubbornness. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, in 2008.

She is survived by two children, Roy Murphy and Amy Compton, both of Joplin; two grandchildren, Krisana Williams of Diamond and Caleb Jones of Joplin; two great-grandsons, Eli and Liam; niece, Cheryl Ford and husband, Bob, State of Tennessee, and their daughter, Nichol, State of Maryland; two cousins, Rodney McFadden and wife, Cheryl, of Monett, and Linda Troutman, State of Arizona; and her life-long best friend, Patsy Trigg, of Diamond.

No formal services are planned at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
