Janice James

Janice Lee James, age 85, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away at 8:09 a.m. on Friday, December 17, 2021, at Granby House Care Facility in Granby, Missouri. She was born March 13, 1936, in Neosho, Missouri, the daughter of the late Leonard Douglas and Clara Maude (Elliott) Carnes.

Janice grew up in Neosho and, following her mother's passing at a young age, moved to Colorado to live with her sister. She sold Life Insurance and furniture and retired from Olinger Mortuaries, selling pre-planned funerals. She returned to Neosho to be near family as she aged and stayed true to her Christian faith.








She is survived by her daughter Anita Dickens and her husband, Richard, of Neosho; and five grandchildren, Blossom Mahan, and Joshua Dickens and his wife, Caleigh, Brandy Dickinson, Tiffany McCaw, and Ashley Sepko.

In addition to her parents, her daughter, Lisa Dickinson; and siblings, Helen, Leonard, and Bob Carnes, and Patricia Fitzsimmons, preceded her in death.






Under the direction of the Clark Funeral Home in Neosho, a graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at the Neosho IOOF Cemetery.
