Gloria Blue

(From Parker Mortuary)

December 15, 1945 to May 20, 2022

Today we celebrate the life and legacy of Gloria Jean Blue. Gloria was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, and was the third of seven children to Ludra Lee Metters Sr. and Clarissa White.

Gloria grew up and was educated in Los Angeles, California. She was raised in a Christian home and accepted Jesus in her life at an early age. She embraced salvation and she loved the Lord with all of her heart, soul, mind, and strength. Gloria’s profession in life was working in the ministry, and many would agree that she excelled in her vocation.

In her younger years she and two of her sisters formed a gospel singing group that they named, The Stallworth Singers. As a group, they travelled with Bro. A.A. Allen and Gloria used her talents to sing, play the organ, and glorify God.

Later in life, specifically, May 18, 1973, she was joined in holy matrimony to Dwayne D. Blue. From that day forward, Gloria worked with her husband in the ministry, and was faithful in her profession until she transitioned to be with the Lord.

During her Christian tenure, Gloria was a pastor, an anointed handmaid of God, an evangelist, a teacher, a singer, and a skillful and anointed organ player. For many years she traveled with her husband, evangelizing, preaching, and bringing salvation, healing, and deliverance to many. She was also a missionary and traveled across the seas to over 25 countries to preach the gospel to the poor and to lift up heavy hearts.

Gloria and her husband established and pastored three churches.

In 1973, they established and pastored a church in Coleman, Texas; Gloria’s mother assisted them in establishing that church. In 1984, they moved to Oklahoma and established a church in Tulsa. Then in 1998, they moved to Missouri and established a church in Neosho. From 1998 to present, they traveled between Tulsa and Neosho faithfully pastoring both churches.

Gloria was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and a faithful friend to many. Gloria was also a great inspiration to God’s people, and a pattern for others to follow. She was full of good works and her life exemplified holiness and godliness.

As a pastor’s wife and teacher of God, she taught the women in the church how to be holy, godly, and how to carry themselves in a manner that would be pleasing unto God. During the Saturday morning services in Neosho and the Sunday morning services in Tulsa, she constantly taught, encouraged, and lifted up the saints of God.

During her exaltations, she inspired the saints to continue in the faith, to trust God, to cleave unto God, and to use the spiritual gifts to God’s glory.

As a minister and handmaid of God, she blessed the saints with encouraging messages. One message in particular that she preached a few years ago was, The Name of the Lord is a Strong Tower, The Righteous Run into it and are Safe.

This message, and all of her messages were a blessing to the church, and they will always have a special place in our hearts. Gloria was also a devoted prayer warrior who prayed without ceasing for her family and for the body of Christ. She displayed a great love for God’s people and she received phone calls daily from those reaching out to her for encouragement; she always demonstrated patience and love, and took the time to strengthen them. This is the genuine and beautiful legacy that she leaves with her family, friends, and fellow saints to cherish. Her presence will be greatly missed.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; Ludra Lee Metters Sr. and Clarissa White (Tony); her son Bobby Ray Hester Jr.; two sisters, Sally Metters and Delores Henry; and a brother, Jimmy Roland.

Gloria leaves precious memories to be celebrated and cherished by her devoted and loving husband, Dwayne Blue; her precious daughter, Wendy Blue; daughter-in-law, Vickey Hester; four grandchildren, Charzette (Curtis) Dawson, Jonathan (Latyra) Hester, LaQuilla (Ronald) Davis, and Marcus Carruthers; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Story Henderson of Dallas, Texas and Annette (Leeaughn) Reed of Alvarado, Texas; two brothers, Eddie V. Story Jr. and Garl L. Story, both of Dallas, Texas; four sisters in law; four brothers in law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, fellow ministers, and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at New testament Holiness Church in Neosho with her husband and best friend, Pastor Dwayne Blue officiating.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Burial will take place on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
