Margaret Compton

Margaret was born April 21, 1938, in Altoona, Kansas. Margaret met Carl Compton on the school bus, and they became high school sweethearts. Margaret graduated from Lamar High School in 1955. 

On September 23, 1955, Margaret and Carl were married at Lamar United Methodist Church in Lamar, MO.

Margaret was very involved in the church and an active member in the United Methodist Women and in Golden Agers at Oakton. 








Margaret was a supportive farm wife and loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed growing beautiful flowers and was a 4H gardening leader. She loved hosting many friends and family in her home.

Margaret attended Pittsburg State College and graduated with a teaching degree and taught first grade at Lamar before returning to work with Compton Irrigation and the farm full time. In addition to managing the office, she made countless meals for family, employees, and customers.

Survivors include two sons, Robert (Julie) Compton and Larry (JoJo) Compton; one daughter, Susan Suiter; nine grandchildren, Michael Suiter (Sara Woodman), Sarah Suiter, Kyle (Gizel) Compton, Rose (Daniel) Calandro, Grace (Brock) Gibson, Lucas (Lacy) Compton, Landon (Chynna) Compton, Jesse Compton, and Lauren Compton; and one great grandchild, Micah Compton.

Preceding Margaret in death were her parents, Maxine Barton Schlupp and William Fredrick Schlupp.








Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2022 at Oakton United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Oak Grove (Oakton) Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to Oakton United Methodist Church Building Fund in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
