Connie Caldwell

(From Parker Mortuary)

Connie Lou (Poteet) Caldwell, age 77 of Joplin, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Freeman Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Connie was born October 2, 1944, the granddaughter of Mrs. James Madden, in Chanute, Kansas. Connie grew up and attended school in Chanute, graduating high school in 1962.

On May 20, 1964, she was united in marriage to Charles “Chuck” Elbert in Chanute. In 1969, they moved, with their daughter, Angela, to Joplin, Missouri, where she lived throughout her life. Connie and Chuck joined and remained faithful members of Christ’s Community United Methodist Church. Chuck preceded her in death on March 1, 2013.

It was at Christ’s Community Church that she met James “Jim” Caldwell, Sr. They were joined in marriage on June 18, 2016 and enjoyed their time together just as their wedding cards stated, “Joyful Hearts and Studebaker Parts”.

Her family and friends were always Connie’s priority. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and wonderful friend to many. To know her truly was to love her. She was a creative and talented artist and used those talents to spread the love of Jesus Christ to resonate with others.

Survivors include her husband, James “Jim” Caldwell, Sr. of Joplin; her daughter, Angela Elbert Brownstein, husband Jonathan; grandchildren, Ethan Ryan Doerhoff, husband Samuel, Gabrielle Nicole Bonet, and Alexander Patton Brownstein, all of Columbia, Missouri; a sister, Beverly Williams, husband Frank, of Wichita, Kansas; bonus children, Pamela Jean Pogson, husband Bill, Julie Ann Andrews, and Jim Caldwell, Jr., wife Audra, along with bonus grandchildren.

In addition to her first husband, Connie was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy (Poteet) Wood of Chanute.
