Mick Henry

Douglas “Mick” Henry, age 73, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away at 7:12 p.m. on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin. He was born March 8, 1949, in Neosho, Missouri, to the late Charles M. and Nina (Stone) Henry. 

As he was affectionately referred to, Mick attended Diamond High School and worked as a machinist for Leggett and Platt for over 40 years. 


On August 3, 1967, he married Bobbie Joann Herrington in Neosho. She preceded him in death on January 13, 2019.








Mick resided in Carterville, Missouri, for most of his life and Joplin for the past 20 years, where he attended Oak Grove Baptists Church. His favorite pastimes were fishing with his best friend and brother, Bill, and traveling throughout the United States with dear friends Carolyn and Gerry Hutton; his favorite place was Ouray, Colorado. He enjoyed flea-marketing and collecting various memorabilia such as Mickey Mouse, the Lone Ranger, and 57 Chevy’s. He would do anything to help a friend, neighbor, or stranger.

Survivors include his son, Michael (Stephanie) Henry of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; his daughter, Michelle (James) Price of Joplin, Missouri; one brother, Rick Henry of Neosho; six grandchildren, Emily and Ethan Henry, Sydnee and Ethan Smith, and Michael and Logan Price; and seven great-grandchildren.








In addition to his wife, Bobbie, his two brothers, Ronald and Bill Henry, preceded him in death.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the Granby Memorial Cemetery, with Jim West officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Michael Henry, Ethan Henry, James Price, Michael Price, Logan Price and Dustin Herrington. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2022, in the Clark Funeral Home in Neosho.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Mick to the Oak Grove Baptist Church Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Fund at PO Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.
