(From Ulmer Funeral Home)George Coffey, 76, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022, at his home. George was born in Sedan, Kansas, on August 13, 1946, to Irwin W. Coffey and Irene L. “Phillips” Coffey. He was a long-time resident of Jasper County and worked as a truck driver. He was a member of the NRA, enjoyed golfing, gardening, and going to the gun range.
George was joined in marriage to Ruth Spurgeon on December 6, 2002, in Miami, Oklahoma; she survives.
Along with his wife, Ruth Coffey, he is survived by sons Mark Phillips (Marsha), Jimmie Phillips, and Ron Phillips (Virginia); daughters, Sandy Beck (Zach), and Brenda Wintjen; grandchildren Doug Skeen, and Jasmin Skeen; seven step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held for George Coffey at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri. An open visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at the Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage, Missouri. Burial will follow service.
