Shirley Landers

Shirley Ann Woodfill Landers born August 21, 1936 to Mack E. Woodfill and Beatrice Russell Woodfill passed away November 7, 2022, with her family and caretaker by her side. 

She graduated from Pineville High School in 1954, Joplin Junior College in 1956, and transferred to Fresno State University graduating with a bachelor's degree in education. She taught elementary school for 22 years in California and for 18 years in Missouri where she touched the lives of many students.






 

She married her high school sweetheart Arnold E. Landers on June 25, 1955, and they lived together in California for 23 years before returning to their state home of Missouri in 1980. To this union were born 2 sons, Douglas A. Landers (Susie) and Gregory E. Landers (Debbie). They have 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind 1 sister, Janet Perry (Walter) of Tulare, California; 1 brother, Harry Woodfill (Doris) of Anderson, Missouri; 1 brother in-law, Junior Landers (Kay) of Pineville, Missouri. One brother, Gary Mack Woodfill, preceded her in death. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church in Anderson, Missouri, a member of the Retired Teachers, American Legion Auxiliary, Sew-Scrappy Quilters, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels through classes for her church.






 

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Pineville, Missouri. 

 Per Shirley’s wishes, a donation may be made in her memory to Gideons International for Bible distribution or to the Tracy Cemetery in Pineville, Missouri.
