(From Parker Mortuary)Brenda Kay (Gaeth) Orban, 77, of Joplin, MO passed away at home November 23rd, 2022.
She was born on February 4th, 1945, in Bay City, MI to Lydia (Dorsch) and Arthur Gaeth of Kilmanagh, MI.
Brenda attended the Owendale-Gagetown Area Schools, in Michigan and excelled in home economics and was a talented seamstress.
She married Donald F. Orban of Caro, MI on December 16th, 1963 and they had two children, Alan (Keasha) Orban of St. Louis, MO and Craig Orban of Springfield, MO.
Brenda spent many years as a 4H leader teaching children to sew.
She worked many years at Singer Sewing Co and became an exceptional quilter. Later she opened Sew Neat, a quilting store, and worked there until she retired after the Joplin tornado of 2011 destroyed her quilting store.
Brenda is survived by her children, her sister Delores Elftman of Pigeon, MI, sister-in-law Bonnie Gaeth of Owendale, MI, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Clarence Gaeth of Owendale MI, brother-in-lawLoren Elftman of Pigeon MI and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be sent to Joplin Area Town and Country Quilters.
A celebration of life in Joplin, MO and in the thumb of Michigan will be announced at a later time.
A visitation will be held Friday December 2, 5 to 7 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
