Karen Gibson

Mrs. Karen Ruth Gibson, 79, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Saturday, November 12, 2022, while at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, after months of declining health.

Karen entered this life on April 11, 1943, on the family farm in Vermillion, South Dakota, one of four children born to the late Ellerd and Pearl Anderson. 









On December 7, 1974, she was united in marriage to David “Dave” Gibson and to this union a daughter and son were born, Kim and David. They resided in Iowa before moving to Joplin in 1978. Throughout her life she was a hardworking and devoted homemaker. She enjoyed playing the piano, was an avid reader and had a huge heart for animals.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Leslie Anderson.








Karen is survived by her husband of forty-seven years, Dave Gibson of the home; two children, Kim Sommer and husband, Joel, of Melbourne, Florida and David Gibson and wife, Lisa, of Warrenville, Illinois; three grandchildren, Ellie, Julian and Miles; two siblings, Duane Anderson of the state of Arkansas and Cheryl Peterson of the state of South Dakota; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2022, in the chapel of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home with Alan McCamey officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City, Missouri.
