Dean Clopton

Dean Evan Clopton, age 80, of Webb City, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.

Dean, the only child born to the late Delbert and Lilly Mae (Sisson) Clopton, was born on April 5, 1942, in Joplin. He grew up and attended school in Joplin, graduating high school from Joplin Senior High School with the Class of 1960. Soon after he attended Missouri Southern State University and University of Missouri. He was previously employed with Harry Cooper Supply and Joplin Supply in sales until his retirement. 

 On June 12, 1987, he was united in marriage to Carol Mascher in Miami, OK. She survives.








Dean was a devoted and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed being outdoors in his yard and garden, watching his birds. He and Carol were avid two-steppers around Southwest Missouri, often making new friends along the way, as Dean loved people and striking up conversations. He worked part time after retirement at Henkles Ace Hardware in Webb City. 

 He adored his Henkles work family and customers. Dean loved his family and spending quality time with everyone, including his cousins he considered more like siblings.






 

Survivors include his wife, Carol Clopton, of Webb City; his children, Rebecca Miller, of Burmese, OK, Debra Clopton, of LA, and Tara Banks, of Joplin; stepchildren, Gary Atkinson, and his wife, Kelly, of Joplin, and Jay Atkinson, of Rohnert Park, CA; ten grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; and several cousins.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. Friends are welcome to offer condolences with viewing at Parker Mortuary on Monday, November 21st after 2:00 PM.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
