Bud Reed

Charles Richmond (Bud) Reed died on November 12, 2022 at his home in Stark City, MO

Bud was born May 25, 1936, in Houston, Texas, the son of J.F. and Mary Virginia (Morris) Reed. Bud was an active member of Racine Christian Church, participating in men's groups, Stephen ministry, service to the Neosho homeless, Journey to Bethlehem, and living up to his "Barnabas gift", encouraging all those he could. Mission actions beyond the local homeless included Haiti, Guatemala, and Ghana.








Bud was an Army veteran, serving as an Agent in the Army Counter Intelligence Corps for three years, the last one of which was in Korea.

Bud's career included 10 years at seven locations with Xerox in sales, sales management, service management, and general management, 5 years as leasing agent for Sanders Campbell & Co, Dallas, 5 years as Regional Manager and Vice President of Marketing for Boston Whaler, in Michigan and Massachusetts, 10 years in real estate development with The Woodlands, The Murray Group, Colorado Centre and the Coy Clark Company. He and Marilyn owned Pioneer Homes, Neosho for 10 years. Most recently, since 2010, Bud has been consiglieri for Superior Steel Sales where he was referred to as 'Bulldog Bud" by his boss and good friend, Matt Bales.

Bud married Marilyn McElroy on June 16, 1962, at the Reed family log house in southeast Texas. Marilyn got to go be with Jesus on June 14, 2021. Their oldest daughter, Kathleen, predeceased them in 1981.

Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Mitchael and husband Jay, Gravette, AR, and Leisa Van Zandt and husband Sonny, Waco, TX; three sons, Jeffrey Reed and Grace Foley, Melbourne, FL, John Reed, Goodman, MO, and Isaac Reed and wife Lori, Neosho, MO (all of whom, according to Bud, "hovered" over him after Marilyn went on), a sister Judith Ann Ragsdale and husband and dear friend John, Montgomery, TX and 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Bud is also survived by Lori whom God sent to. love, comfort and bring back his happiness before seeing Jesus. And we consider her a gift and member of our family.








The family will receive friends from 10am to 11am, Monday, November 21, 2022 at the Racine Christian Church. Following the visitation funeral services will be held at 11:00m with John St. Clair officiating. A private family burial will follow the service at the New Salem Cemetery with Jax Mitchael, Isaac Reed, Noah Reed, Kent Bradshaw, Jeff Selgeby, and Jeff Reed serving as pallbearers.
