Willy Wilson

(From Parker Mortuary)

William Edward Wilson, affectionately known as Willy to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, in Joplin, Missouri. Born on April 26, 1960, in Gary, Indiana, Willy's warm spirit and generous nature touched the lives of all who knew him.

Willy's life was one of service and kindness, as evidenced by his years of dedicated work within the Indiana Public School system. Willy's involvement with various associations further showcased his passion for making a positive impact on those around him.

A loving father, Willy is survived by his daughter, Roxann Tokar and her husband Skip of Indianapolis, Indiana, and his son, William M. Wilson of Gary, Indiana. He was a cherished brother to Rose Kisner of Alba, Missouri, Patti Jo York of Mobile, Alabama, James Wilson and his wife Tammy, Bobby Joe Wilson and his wife Jennifer, and Anthony Wilson and his wife Jaime, all of Gary, Indiana. His legacy will live on through his adoring grandchildren and the many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends he leaves behind. Willy was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Lou, his sister Linda, and brother George.

Willy's interests were as varied as they were unique. He was an avid collector of all kinds of knick-knacks and die-cast cars, finding joy in the simple pleasure of discovering and preserving little treasures. His collection was a testament to his appreciation for the small things that often go unnoticed.

Known for his loving nature, Willy's generosity knew no bounds. He was the kind of person who would cross Main Street just to assist an elderly person with their bags or to perform a simple act of kindness like holding the door open for a stranger. His thoughtful gestures were a hallmark of his character, and they spoke volumes about the man he was.

Willy's life was a reflection of the words that best described him: loving, generous, and thoughtful. He approached every day with a heart full of compassion and a desire to make the world a better place.

As we say goodbye to Willy, we celebrate a life well-lived and a legacy of love and kindness that will endure. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories we share and the lives he touched. Rest in peace, Willy. Your journey was a beacon of light in the lives of many, and your memory will forever be a guiding star.

Services will be announced at a later date with Parker Mortuary in charge of the arrangements.
