Robert Lee Sutherland, age 72, Oronogo, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2019 at Freeman West Hospital.
Bob was born June 23, 1946 in Ft. Scott, Kansas, son of the late James Lee Sutherland and Hazel DeLaine Duggan Sutherland. He graduated from Prescott High School, and then earned a Bachelor's Degree from Kansas State College (now Pittsburg State University). He worked as a computer analyst for years with McDonald Douglas in St. Louis, Missouri, and worked with the Department of Defense from 1975 - 1985. He moved to Joplin in 1990, and worked for St. John's Hospital as a Computer Systems Analyst, retiring in 1999.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 50 years, Mary L. Sutherland; son, Robert A. Sutherland of Kansas City, Missouri; daughters, Kristi L Wilson and husband Ronnie of Joplin, and Lisa A. Guild and husband Jason of Oronogo; grandchildren, Emily, Makayla, Jared, Makenzie, and Mathew; brothers, James A. Sutherland of Omaha, Nebraska, and Glen R. Sutherland and wife Bonnie of Joplin.
Memorial service will be Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Carthage with Rev. James Lee officiating.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
