Emaline Platner

Emaline E. Platner, age 93 of Joplin, Mo. passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Freeman Hospital following an illness.

Emaline was born on February 24, 1923 in Granby, Mo., the daughter of Emery and Ollie (Varner) Brown. She has been a lifetime area resident, Emaline worked as a seamstress for both Miller Manufacturing and the Meeker Co. before retiring in 1965. She was a member of Faith Assembly of God and the D.A.V. Auxiliary and the Purple Heart Auxiliary.

She married William Platner on January 7, 1940, he preceded her in death on May 4, 2003. Emaline was also preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters and a grandson, Tony Platner. Survivors include one daughter; Yolanda Huff and husband Nate of Joplin, two sons; Phillip Platner and wife Barbara of Oologah, Ok., Quinton Platner and wife Aleta of Neosho, Mo., 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Community Chapel Church. Burial will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
