Preston Dale Guthrie, age 91, Joplin, passed away at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at his residence after a long illness.
Preston was born July 29, 1924 in Pittsburg, Kansas to the late Louis Terrell Guthrie and Alta Lorene Palmer and had lived in Joplin most of his life.
He worked at Foremost Dairy for 34 years and was a longtime member of the Teamsters Union. Preston was a faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church of Joplin.
Preston married Evelyn Hepler on March 22, 1951. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include his children, David Howard Guthrie, Neosho, Ruth Evelyn Gray, Joplin, John Dale Guthrie, Joplin, Paul Douglas Guthrie, Joplin; one half brother, Gary Guthrie; eleven grandchildren, Melissa Ramon, Jennifer Guthrie, Crystal Harvey, Erin Hammond, Matt Guthrie, Johnny Guthrie, Hannah Guthrie, Sarah Brite, Jillian Bosch, Joelle Guthrie, Matt Ryan; and five great grandchildren, Madison Harvey, Jared Harvey, Riley Guthrie, Alex Ramon, and Sady Brite.
In addition to his parents, Preston was preceded in death by six half brothers and one half sister.
Services are planned for Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Rex Wakefield will officiate. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri Baptist Children's Home, in care of Parker Mortuary.
