Matt Ratekin, age 76, Neosho, passed away on March 29, 2016 after a prolonged 2 year illness. Matt was born May 10, 1939 in Knoxville, TN, son of Howard Ratekin and Carrie Alice (Flood) Ratekin. Matt married Cheryl (Foster)(Penny) on August 25, 1984 in San Antonio, Texas and she survives. Matt came to Neosho in 1956 and then returned upon his retirement in 1996 from the USAF. He was a Management Analysis Technician and Operations Specialist while he was in the USAF. He was a member of The Neosho United Methodist Church and he loved woodworking, reading, music and FOX news.
In addition to his wife, Cheryl Ratekin, Matt is survived by five children, Kris Ratekin (Sarah), Indianapolis, IN; Eric Penny, San Antonio, TX; Brent Ratekin (Karen), Tyler, TX; Jon Penny (Lizz), San Antonio, TX; Deidra (Ratekin) Keane (Paul), San Angelo, TX; 1 sister, Clarice Wittmann (Rick), Wichita Falls, TX; grandchildren, Crystal, Damian, Jon Michael, Sarah, Amber, Connor, Austin, Colby, Joshua, Julie and 4 great-grandchildren.
