Shirley Estes

Shirley Louise Estes, 90, passed away Sunday March 6, 2016 in Lamar, Missouri. Shirley was born April 29, 1925 in Millinoket, Maine to Samuel and Florence (Lowell) Jarvis. Shirley graduated Stearns High School class of 1942 in Millinocket Maine. She was a longtime Carthage resident and worked as a secretary, in electronics and a homemaker, Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carthage where she was involved in the Children’s Ministry. She enjoyed reading, spending time with family and friends and baking brownies and fudge.

Shirley was united in marriage to Clifford F. Estes on August 30, 1942 in Portland, Maine. He preceded her in death October 14, 2001.

Shirley is survived by one daughter Anne Miles of Lamar, MO, one son John Estes of Boca Raton, FL., fourteen grandchildren Greg and Brittney Taylor, Michelle and Matt O’Banion, Eugen Estes, Amy and Ken Campbell, Jerrod Estes, Jenny and Josh Nizzi, Erica and Bryan Watson and Stephanie and Joe Sircar, eighteen great grandchildren Piper, J.D., Kate, Nizzi, Aaron and Gracie Campbell, Penelope, Judah and Abigal Watson, Brandon, Kaden, and Carter Estes Jackson, Owen, Grayson and Mason Taylor, Brylee, Aidan, Skyelar O’Banion, one great great granddaughter Kirksey O’Banion. Two brothers Glenwood Jarvis and Robert Jarvis.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister Marie Jarvis.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday March 9, 2016 at Lamar United Methodist Church, Lamar, Missouri. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carthage, Missouri.
