Betty Crosby

Mrs. Betty Ruth Saylor Crosby, 83, of Carl Junction, Missouri, departed this life on Friday morning, November 11, 2016, in the comfort of her home after a lengthy illness.

Betty entered this life on February 11, 1933, in Sherman, Texas, born to the late George and Irene (Smart) Wiggins. She was raised in Howe, Texas and was a 1952 graduate of Howe High School. She was united in marriage to Dr. Robert “Bob” Saylor and to this union a daughter and son were born. They moved their family to Carl Junction, Missouri, in 1969. Besides being a devoted homemaker, Betty also assisted her husband as office manager of Dr. Bob Saylor Chiropractic Care. Bob passed away on December 7, 1994. Betty married Bernie Crosby on February 21, 2004 and together they have shared the last twelve years. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Carl Junction.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Bob Saylor; and two sisters, Sue and Melba.

Betty is survived by her husband, Bernie Crosby of the home; two children, Janet Wright and husband, Mark, of Joplin, Missouri and Gary Saylor and wife, Melody, of Ferdinand, Indiana; three stepsons, Dennis Crosby and wife, Inge, of Zwolle, Holland, Gary Crosby of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Clayton E. Crosby and wife, Monica, of Bentonville, Arkansas; six grandchildren; ten step grandchildren; two great grandchildren; several step great grandchildren; two brothers, Ray Wiggins of Bullhead City, Arizona and Calvin Wiggins of Howe, Texas; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Betty are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Carl Junction, Missouri, with Bro. Russell Roderick officiating. Burial will follow in the Carl Junction Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri. Memorials are being directed to the First Baptist Church and contributions may be left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri.
