Helen Torrence

Mrs. Helen Udene Torrence, 91, of Aubrey, Texas formerly of McDonald County Missouri, departed this life on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at the Whitesboro Care Center in Whitesboro, Texas, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Helen entered this life on June 1, 1925, in Jane, Missouri, born to the union of the late Fred and Martha (Plummer) Copeland. She was raised on a farm near Jane and was a graduate of Pineville High School. She furthered her education at the University of Arkansas, receiving her Bachelors Degree in Education. She taught home economics and art both in Missouri and Oklahoma. On November 10, 1985 she was united in marriage to Henry Joseph Torrence and together they shared twelve years before his passing on January 23, 1998. She resided in Walnut Grove, Missouri before moving to Denton, Texas in 2013.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Jack and Bill Copeland.

Helen is survived by her three stepdaughters, Theresa Tucker of Ft. Worth, Texas, Connie Weber of Avondale, Arizona and Vanessa Torrence of Aubrey, Texas; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a sister in-law, Betty Copeland of Dewey, Oklahoma; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Torrence are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2016 in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor Marilyn O’Brien officiating. Burial will follow in the Pineville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are being directed to the Alzheimer’s Foundation and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
