James Lafayette Ford, age 89, Racine, departed this life on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Freeman West of Joplin.
James was born January 9, 1932 in Independence, Missouri, and worked as a home builder and Steel Worker in the Kansas City area and Joplin until his retirement. James loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Wayne Ford, and a son, James Russell Ford.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Ford; sons, Paul Ford (Sandy), and Jeffery Ford (Monica) both of Independence; stepdaughter, Brittany Lodwick of Carl Junction; two grandchildren, Alexandria Hicks (Mike) and Thomas J. Ford; two great-grandchildren, Fallon Hicks and Greyson Hicks all of Independence, Missouri.
According to James’ wishes, he will be cremated with no formal services at this time.
