Mike Edens

Michael Lee “Mike” Edens, age 67, of Neosho, Missouri, passed away suddenly at 5:50 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at his home. He was born May 31, 1954, in Neosho, to Stanley Gwyn and Barbara (Tatum) Edens. 

Mike was a 1972 graduate of Diamond High School and resided in Newton County for most of his life. 

He was active in law enforcement, working as a Neosho City Patrolman and assisted with establishing the Explorer’s Program for the Boy Scouts with the Neosho City Police Department, he worked for the Newton County Sheriff’s Department, and was the Chief of Police for Diamond, Missouri. 








Most recently Mike worked as a parts salesman for Freightliner and Auto Zone. He loved working on cars, fishing, and watching old Westerns.

On August 9, 1980, he married Terri Shumate in Joplin, Missouri. She survives him of the home.

Additional survivors include his mother, Barbara Edens; one sister, Tammy Howland, and her husband, Larry, all of Neosho; niece, Tonya McKee and her husband, Ryan; nephew, Jeremy Howland and his wife, Michelle; and four great-nephews.

His father, Stanley Edens, recently passed away on April 20, and his brother, Douglas Edens, also preceded him in death.

Under the direction of the Clark Funeral Home in Neosho, a graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2022, at the Diamond Cemetery in Diamond, Missouri. Pastor Phil Barber will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, in the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories.
