(From Paul Thomas Funeral Home)Donald Lee “Don” Pendley of Miami, OK passed from this life Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Heartsworth Senior Living in Vinita, OK. He was 91.
Don was born May 19, 1932 in Bluejacket, OK to Joseph A. and Dorothy Hazel (Steele) Pendley. He had lived in Miami and Joplin most of his life and graduated from Miami High School Class of 1950.
Don served in the U.S. Army during Korea. He had worked as a Police Officer for the City of Miami, OK for 26 ½ years and then worked for Yellow Freight in Baxter Springs, KS as a truck driver for 10 years and then worked as a Security Guard for St. John’s Hospital in Joplin, MO for 10 years.
Don was a member of All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Miami, OK, Miami Lodge No. 140 A.F.&A.M., Tulsa, Scottish Rite Consistory and the American Legion and V.F.W. in Miami. He was an avid golfer.
Don was preceded in death by his wife Virginia “Jenny” Pendley on April 26, 2009, his parents and 4 sisters, JoAnn Harrison, Patty Herriage, Joyce Willibey and Jane Chase.

Survivors include 1 son, Ron Pendley and wife Mary of Joplin, MO, 1 daughter, Karen Hall and Randy Crist of Miami, OK, 2 grandchildren, Rachel Pendley and Mandy Hall Banks and 2 great grandchidlren, Olivia Banks and Arley Banks.
