Paula Marie Hershey, 47, Carthage, Missouri, a beacon of love and friendship, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2024, at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, Missouri.

She was born on December 31, 1976, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Steven Monahan and Pam (Knowles) Monahan. Paula's life was marked by her unwavering kindness and her enduring spirit.

She grew up in the heart of Iowa, where she attended St. Charles High School and graduated in the class of 1994. Her youthful energy and determination were the pillars upon which she built a successful career. Paula's professional journey was diverse and fulfilling. She began as a dedicated hotel manager, later channeled her creativity into owning a home decor store, and most recently applied her skills in assembly at H.E. Williams in Carthage. Her work ethic and amiable nature left an indelible mark on everyone she worked with. After spending 24 years with the love of her life, 8 of which being married, she was married to Kevin Hershey on May 27, 2016, in Carthage, Missouri.

Survivors include her husband, Kevin Hershey; her children, Albert Hershey, Dylan Hershey, Hunter Hershey, and Harlie Hodge (Austin); ten grandchildren; her mother, Pam Monahan; her sister, Lisa Renae Monahan; and her mother-in-law, Joyce Hershey. Paula's life was touched by many, including extended family and a host of friends who will miss her deeply. She was preceded in death by her father, Steven Monahan; and a son, Jason Hershey.

Paula's interests were a reflection of her joyous approach to life. She found solace and excitement in fishing for Spoonbill, an activity that allowed her to embrace nature's wonders. Her passion for collecting Breyer horses was more than a hobby; it was a testament to her appreciation for beauty and craftsmanship. Above all, Paula's greatest interest was her family. The love she poured into every family gathering, every shared meal, and every quiet moment at home was the truest expression of her heart.

Per Paula’s wishes, there was cremation. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
