(From Parker Mortuary)Stephen Richard Hawkins, age 68, of Anderson, MO, passed away on May 14, 2024 at Freeman West in Joplin, MO.
Steve, son of the late Richard and Betty (Morgan) Hawkins was born on January 16, 1956, in Joplin, MO.
Steve joined the United States Army for a few years before settling into the reserves for nearly 8 years. Then worked for many different companies as an industrial maintenance operator and construction worker. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything and everything. He enjoyed woodworking and blacksmithing in his spare time.
Steve was a hands-on type of guy, and was one of the most selfless people you would have ever met, helping others through outreach programs and wherever he was needed. Steve was an outdoorsman, enjoying the beautiful woods and closest friends. To his nieces and nephews, he was known as, “The Weedeater” and he held onto that nickname with great pride.
In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by one sister, Rita Massey.

Steve is survived by his two children, Adam Hawkins and wife, Roxanne, and Jennifer Welch and husband, David; seven grandchildren, Desireé, Trinity, Diana, Daniel, Matthew, Lilly, and Isaac; and one sister, Sue Goudle.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel.
