(From Parker Mortuary)Margaret Louise Blue, known to her family and friends as “Peggy” from Joplin, MO, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2026, with family by her side. She was 88 years old. She was born on June 14, 1937, and lived a life marked by strength, kindness, and devotion to family and community.
Peggy was known for her warm heart, gentle spirit, sense of humor, and unwavering love for those around her. She found joy in the simple pleasures of a lifetime spent with family, meaningful conversations, and caring for others in ways both large and small. Peggy was cherished by her family and friends. She never shied away from helping others and always saw the best in people. Her grace and compassion left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Born on June 14, 1938, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, to James Oscar Binns and Alma Coleman Binns. Peggy graduated from Kellyville High School in 1955, and attended Oklahoma State University.
In 1959, Peggy married Otis D. Blue and they had two sons, Stephen and Brent. After their wedding, the couple moved to Arlington Texas, where Peggy worked for Hunt Corporation in Dallas. Peggy had a diverse and interesting career beginning in the early 1960’s working for several companies. The family later moved to Joplin in 1965 where they owned Battery Warehouse. Peggy worked her entire life in various positions until retirement.
A longtime resident of Joplin, Peggy cherished her roots and the relationships she built over a lifetime. She was a steady presence and a source of comfort and wisdom to her family, always offering encouragement and love.
Peggy is remembered with deep affection and gratitude by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, resilience, and quiet generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Above all, Peggy loved spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren grow.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents James Oscar Binns and Alma Coleman Binns, her two brothers Charles Lee (Chuck) Binns and his wife Odell, James Oscar (J.O.) Binns, Jr., and his wife Elnora, three sisters Carmeleta Annabel “Moe” Binns Smith, Alma Jean “Jeannie” Binns Lewis and her husband Kirk, Reba Corinne Binns Nitz and her husband Jack, Judith Kay McAnulty and her husband E. Glen “Bill” McAnulty, niece Cathie Binns Fox, and nephew John Fox.
She is survived by her two sons, Stephen Blue and wife, Gail, of Joplin, MO and Brent Blue, of Joplin, MO; two grandchildren, Evan Blue of St. Cloud, MN, and Anna Blue, of Kansas City, MO. Peggy will be greatly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Celebration of Peggy’s life will be held on Saturday, January 10th, at 11:00 a.m. at Osborne Memorial Cemetery in Joplin, MO, with Pastor Jim Bowles officiating. In her memory, donations may be made to Joplin Humane Society.
Funeral arrangements are under the special care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
