Johnny Lee Wilson, age 76, Joplin, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Friday, January 30, 2015.
Johnny was born in Commerce, Oklahoma to the late Willie and Chloe Anderson Wilson and had lived in the Joplin area all of his life.
He worked for Royal Tire for many years and retired from Dotson Trucking in 2013 after 20 years of service.
Johnny enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was spending time fishing, camping or just sitting. He also loved to read and had amassed quite a collection of Western books.
In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Wilson; and two sisters, Billie Wilson and Judy Brady. He married Barbara Griffin on October 31, 1956 in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include four children, Tony Wilson, Germany, Dan Wilson and his wife, Judy, Baxter Springs, Kansas, Jeff Wilson and his wife, Cheryl, Joplin, Roger Wilson and his fiancé, Patty Watson, Galena, Kansas; two brothers, Buddy Wilson, Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Gary Wilson, Palouse, Washington; three sisters, Virginia Mahler, Powell, Tennessee, Sharon Clemons, Neosho, Jane Wilson, Fairland; 15 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; and several extended family members.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel.
