Mary Kathryn Lewis, age 89 of Webb City passed away Wednesday February 3, 2015 at the Webb City Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on March 27, 1925 in Webb City, the daughter of Charles and Clara Bell “Scafe” Dougherty. Mary graduated from Alba High School and married Gerald H. Lewis on March 15, 1942. He preceded her in death on September 16, 2004. She lived in Neck City, Mo until 1945 when her husband came home from the service and then moved to Carterville, Mo. She worked for R-7 Webb City Schools in food services and was a member of the Carterville Christian Church. Mary was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Elaine O’Brien.
Survivors include a son Jerry Lewis and wife Nancy of Carterville, MO; a daughter Judy Penner and her husband Jess of Webb City, Mo; five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; a great-great grandson; and the Shirk Family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday February 6, 2015 at the Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home with Minister Roger Hasselquist officiating. Burial will follow in the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, Mo. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday at the Funeral Home. The family suggests contributions to the Carterville Christian Church in care of the Funeral Home. Arrangements entrusted to the Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home.
