James Wesley "Jim" Nicholson, age 82, of Seneca, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 at Mercy Hospital, following a sudden illness.
Jim was born February 2, 1935 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to the late Leroy Nicholson and Minnie Nona Green Nicholson. He graduated from Capital City High School, and then enlisted in the United States Navy. Jim served four years with the U.S. Navy, and then stayed in the National Guard where he served a total of 33 years before retiring. After his service to his country, he worked many years in sales. He was a Sales Manager for Joplin Globe, salesman for KPCG Radio, and retired as a Real Estate Agent with Jones and Company where he was also a Notary public. He was a past president for the Joplin Lion's Club several times, and was also a member of the NRA. Jim was currently a member of Community Chapel of Joplin.
On November 23, 1962, he married Letha Ann Crosby in Joplin, she preceded him in death on July 17, 2010. He was also preceded in death by a son, Mark Nicholson, and his 10 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his son, James "Scott" Nicholson and wife Christin of Seneca; grandchildren, Lacey Burdge, Stephanie Nicholson, and Kyle Nicholson; many nieces, nephews, cousins, plus many extended family and friends.
Graveside services are planned for Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
