Marie V. Bateman, age 96, of Exeter, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
She was born July 16, 1921 in Powell, Missouri the daughter of Ross and Ollie (Shockley) Lee. On December 31, 1940 in Exeter she was united in marriage to Guy Bateman who preceded her in death on July 12, 1994. Also preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Paul and Jr. and two sisters, Dorothy and Shirley Jean.
Surviving are two sons, Donald Bateman and his wife Janie of Little Flock, Arkansas and Bruce Bateman and his wife Cheryl of Avoca, Arkansas; one daughter, Sharon Hollingsworth and her husband Ike of Exeter, Missouri; one brother, Curtis Lee and his wife Joan of Joplin, Missouri; six grandchildren, Joyce Periman and her husband L.B., Jeanetta Adkins, Gene Ann Morrison and her husband Brad, Brandy Scott and her husband Jeff, Tammy Marshall and her husband Brad and Andrea Stansberry and her husband Joel; thirteen great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
Marie grew up in southwest Missouri and was a housekeeper for a few years. After their marriage she and Guy moved to Yakima, Washington where they remained until 1958 when they returned to Exeter to make their home. She was of the Baptist Faith.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 22, 2018 at Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Paul Wahlert will conduct the services.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 P.M. Monday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
